SBM Offshore Signs Major Contract with Woodside for Trion Oil Field Development

SBM Offshore has secured a significant contract with Woodside Petróleo Operaciones de México, S. de R.L. de C.V. for the Trion deepwater oil field in the western Gulf of Mexico. Under this agreement, SBM Offshore will construct and lease a Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) unit to Woodside for 20 years. This contract follows the 2023 award for the Transportation & Installation of the FSO and the Floating Production Unit (FPU).

The new FSO will be moored at a depth of approximately 2,500 meters and will have a storage capacity of around 950,000 barrels of crude oil. The Trion field, located 180 km off the Mexican coast and 30 km south of the US/Mexico maritime border, is a joint venture between Woodside (60%) and PEMEX Exploración y Producción (40%).
