Through our sustainability ambassadors and targeted programs, we strive to create meaningful change and contribute to the well-being of society. For instance, in building our presence in Brazil and Guyana, we contributed to the Trilha Emprededora (The Entrepreneur’s Trail) initiative and support the Plympton Farm.

VATSALYA in India

In India, SBM Offshore has initiated a non-profit endeavor called VATSALYA. This initiative brings together individuals dedicated to serving the local community, leveraging their time, skills, talents, and expertise to make a meaningful impact. VATSALYA aims to empower the lower socio-economic strata by providing them with the tools and resources for sustainable living. Through various programs, we strive to improve lives and meet fundamental needs, fostering a sense of fulfillment and well-being within the community.

Our Commitment to Human Rights

At SBM Offshore, we are committed to upholding human rights principles in all aspects of our business operations. Our commitments are embedded in our corporate values, Code of Conduct, and policies, including those on Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE). We adhere to the United Nations Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and expect the same commitment from our partners and suppliers.

Human Rights in Action

We recognize that there is still work to be done to ensure workers in our value chain have their rights respected. This begins with ensuring all suppliers agree to SBM Offshore’s supply chain charter and continues with site audits and collaborative action. Following the assessment and audit of construction yards, SBM Offshore works collaboratively with the yards to develop action plans to eliminate human rights issues identified. For example, by striving to ensure that there are no recruitment fees for supply chain workers, yards pay for medical checks, all workers are provided working conditions in their native language, and all workers are in possession of their passports and travel documents.

Supply Chain Charter

Vendor Commitments

Embedded in the contractual agreement signed by every supplier is a commitment to adhere to the SBM Offshore Code of Conduct or similar code. These codes cover Human Rights issues as formulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights continuous improvement programs. Signature of the Supply Chain Charter as part of the supplier qualification process is an indicator of commitment to meet Human Rights standards among others. In cases where a supplier does not sign the Charter, it is considered a red flag and further investigation, and clarification is required before the supplier will qualify.

Raise a Concern

SBM Offshore is committed to conducting its business activities in an honest, ethical, respectful, and professional manner, including respect for Human Rights. We encourage anyone, whether working for SBM Offshore or not, to speak up about potential or actual breaches of laws and regulations, the SBM Offshore Code of Conduct, company policies or procedures, including Human Rights issues, concerns or possible breaches of our Human Rights Standards.
