Imodco and SBM Offshore share the same DNA, the same vision and the same values. Building upon SBM Offshore terminals technology, Imodco has optimized and qualified the CALM buoy design to remain in the water for up to 30 years. Imodco also works with the wider SBM Offshore business to integrate swivels and mechanical parts within turrets or other types of mooring systems for FPSOs.

The Catenary Anchor Leg Mooring (CALM) or Single Point Mooring (SPM) system revolutionizes fluid transfer operations between tankers and shore facilities. CALM buoys serve a dual purpose of mooring tankers securely while facilitating the seamless transfer of fluids via subsea pipelines. These buoys allow vessels to weathervane, ensuring operations continue even in adverse weather conditions.
Tower Loading Unit (TLU) Solutions
The Tower Loading Unit (TLU) is a Single Point Mooring (SPM) system used for challenging projects such as very shallow water depths, low temperatures, or harsh environments. Ideal for applications with for cold and pressurized fluids, it is the technology of choice for LNG transfer and CO2 injection uses.

With the rising importance of these substances in the transition towards cleaner energy sources, Imodco’s TLU solutions are continuously evolving to meet the demands of the future energy market. The Tower Loading Unit jetty-less solution for open sea sites is being developed to adapt to the challenges of the future energy market. It enables the transfer and supply of cold and/or pressurized products such as Ammonia, Hydrogen CO2 and LNG, to offshore operations. Adaptations include a pumping system onboard the TLU to enable CO2 injection for oil recovery or storage.
The design has been developed at pre-FEED level and approved in principle by Bureau Veritas.
